Umami 33 Seared Ahi Tuna

  •  Sushi-grade Ahi tuna steak
  • ¾ cup Umami 33, plus more for garnish
  • 2 tbsp canola or avocado oil
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup sesame seeds
  • ¼ cup green onions

In a small bowl, mix the Umami 33 and the soy sauce to make a marinade – adding more of either depending on the size of your ahi steak. Put the Ahi in the marinade and sit in the refridgerator for 1 hour. When you are ready to cook, heat the oil to smoking in a cast-iron or stainless-steel pan. As the oil is heating, put the sesame seeds on a plate and roll the Ahi steak in the sesame seeds to coat.

When the pan is hot enough, add the ahi steak to the pan and sear on each side for 2 minutes. Remove the fish from the heat and slice into ½ inch slices. Garnish with chopped green onions and drizzle with Umami 33. Serve over rice, providing dipping bowls of Umami 33 for the diners.
